S&T Research Engineer, Expert - Advanced Optical Materials (3D Printing) at PPG Industries in Monroeville, PA

Key Responsibilities Build and maintain equipment to support and enable additive manufacturing and prototyping; develop printing processes and material design parameters. Solve technical problems in the area of advanced optical materials through the application of appropriate scientific, experimental, and statistical methods. Drive a concept into a prototype, and envision how a prototype could transition into a consumer product that aligns with customer specifications. Apply engineering and materials knowledge and conduct laboratory work to accelerate new product development and introduction to customers, including formulation and testing of new optical materials. Support product optimization, process development, and qualification testing for prospective customers. Qualifications BS or MS degree in engineering. Degrees in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or Polymer Science will be considered. 5 or more years of experience in 3D printing, additive manufacturing, prototyping, and equipment development/programming. Knowledge of DLP and SLA printing of UV-cure resins. Compelling combinations of education and experience will be considered. Entrepreneurial and activator mentality with understanding of market trends. Proven ability to conduct innovative and independent research. Experience documenting and communicating research findings and/or performance testing results via detailed technical reports and publications. Ability to work both independently and as part of a multi-functional team in a sophisticated, constantly evolving, fast paced environment. Successful track record of applying statistical tools for DOE and data analysis.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Chemical Engineering, Physical SciencesEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
